Q. What exactly caused this out of stock situation?
Our formulas are experiencing out of stocks at retailers due to increased demand for our products. As outlined by Health Canada, the supply of infant formula in Canada is currently limited. Demand has been heightened for all infant formula manufacturers over the past year. There are fewer products and formats available as all manufacturers work to compensate for an increased demand for products. This is a result of the closure of a US infant formula manufacturing facility in February 2022. While the facility has reopened, it has not yet returned to its normal production capacity.
Q. Is Nestlé or Perrigo still producing and shipping Good Start infant formula to Canada?
Good Start® formulas are still being produced and imported into Canada.
Q. Did the sale to Perrigo impact the out of stock situation?
We want to assure you that the sale of the Good Start® brand to the Perrigo Company in November has no impact to the current supply situation. The sale did not impact the manufacturing capacity of Good Start® infant formula. We are focused on ensuring that our products continue to be readily available for you at your local retailer. Please know that we are working tirelessly, in partnership with Health Canada, our factories, and our retail partners to minimize the disruptions and ensure future supply reliability.
